Bison start the season off (5-0) overall, (3-0) Liberty Division to lead the division
The Shaker Varsity Football Team had goals set before the start of the regular season. One of those goals was to win all their football games within the Liberty Division . With two regular season games left, it looks as if this goal will be reality as the Blue Bison lead the Liberty Division. Shaker had a lot of momentum leading into their Liberty Division games with huge wins over Shenendehowa High School (35-21W) and Christian Brothers Academy (34-3W). The victories only got greater as Shaker then won three conference games by large margins versus opponents Schenectady, Columbia, and LaSalle. One of Shaker’s strongest units is its offense which is lead by numerous talented skill players such as quarterback Wahid Nabi and running back Ronel Forde. With the offense averaging 47 points per game it is potentially the best in Section II. However, Shakers defense is not to be left out of the equation. The senior heavy defense is a key component in Shakers success so far, letting up an average of only 6 points a game to opponents. This incredibly low number allowed by Shaker’s defense makes it potentially the best in Section II as well. If Shaker continues to perform they way they have in the first five games, there will be high expectations for them to be successful in the playoffs.
